Visual + Performing Arts Center Metaphor Studio assists The Carnegie in celebrating their first Web site in 100 years
The Carnegie goes interactive!
With this new Web site people all over the world can realize that Covington, Kentucky is a wonderfully artful and historic place.
Metaphor Studio developed the site working closely with the Web team at the Carnegie. The site features include a Web-based content management system that enables the Carnegie staff to update the Web copy, upload and change images, add new navigation and make files available for download. The next phase will provide the ability to make online donations and view images from the latest gallery exhibition openings. Their 100th anniversary year will be celebrated throughout 2004 with special events including the annual Art Auction Gala, Anniversary Dance and special exhibitions.
The Carnegie Visual & Performing Arts Center, originally built as a Carnegie library, is an outstanding example of American Renaissance Architecture. In 1971 it was placed on the Register of Historic Places. In 1972, the facility was converted to an arts center when the library moved to new facilities. It is the largest and only multi-disciplinary arts organization in a three-county area. The Carnegie is owned by the City of Covington and is leased for a small annual fee to the Carnegie Board which is responsible for maintenance, restoration, accessibility and programming. Located in Covington, KY, ten blocks from the Ohio River and the City of Cincinnati, the art center hosts over 28,000 visitors annually at little or no cost.
Mission:
The Carnegie Visual & Performing Arts Center will utilize our historic building to create a leading arts organization. To this end we will provide a venue for emerging and established artists to create, perform and exhibit; provide educational opportunities for the discovery and enhancement of creativity; and celebrate the arts.
Vision:
To inspire the creative spirit by inviting and encouraging artistic expression, education, advocacy and entertainment.
